Staff from the emergency department at University Hospital Hairmyres took time to explain the benefits of the DBI programme following a pilot within their department.
They explained how DBI training had helped them better support individuals who presented in distress.
Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) – how does it work in Aberdeen
The Scottish Government’s DBI programme is now being delivered across four test regions of Scotland (Aberdeen, Inverness, Scottish Borders and Lanarkshire). Robin from the mental health charity Penumbra, who are the lead agency in Aberdeen, interviews two people about Distress Brief Intervention (DBI), a new initiative which provides quick, connected and compassionate support to people experiencing distress in the community.

Police Scotland have produced a video with front line colleagues from Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service sharing their DBI experience in Inverness. The emergency service colleagues are joined by Support in Mind Scotland who talk about the 24hr to 14 day DBI Level 2 support they provide in Inverness.
